Instructions for using RemotePC
Hello and welcome to the tutorial for using RemotePC. First let’s quickly go over what RemotePC does. RemotePC allows you to securely connect to your computer from anywhere and control it remotely.
To get started, you’ll receive an email inviting you to create a RemotePC account.
Here’s what to do:
-
Open the email titled something like
“[Name] has invited you to create a RemotePC account” -
Click Create account now
This will open the RemotePC website in your browser.

You’ll now land on the account creation page.
On this screen:
-
Enter your First Name and Last Name
-
Confirm your Email Address
(This will be your RemotePC username) -
Create a password
-
Click Create My Account
Once completed, your account will be created and you’ll move on to security setup.

After creating your account, you’ll see a message explaining that two-factor authentication (2FA) is required.
When prompted to choose a method:
-
Select Time-based OTP Authentication
-
Click Confirm
This will guide you through setting it up on your phone.

You’ll now see a QR code on the screen.
Using your phone:
-
Open an authenticator app
(Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy work well) -
Add a new account
-
Scan the QR code shown on the screen
-
Click Next
Your authenticator app will begin generating one-time codes.

At this point, a recovery code will appear.
This step is required — you cannot continue until the code is saved.
RemotePC will require you to do one of the following:
-
Click Copy Code
-
Click Download
-
Click Print
Before moving on:
-
Save the recovery code somewhere secure
-
Click Continue
If you lose access to your authenticator app and do not have this recovery code, IT will need to manually reset your account.

You’ll now be asked to confirm the setup.
To finish:
-
Look at your authenticator app
-
Enter the current 6-digit code
-
Click Activate
Two-factor authentication is now fully enabled.

Once 2FA is activated, RemotePC will automatically log you in.
There’s nothing else you need to do right now — you’ll be taken directly to your account.
For future logins:
-
Go to https://www.remotepc.com
-
Click Sign In
-
Enter your email and password
-
Enter the code from your authenticator app
You will then be taken to your list of computers.

You’ll now see a list of computers assigned to you.
To connect:
-
Find your work computer in the list
-
Hover your mouse over the computer name
-
When connection options appear, click the globe icon
(Connect via Viewer Lite)
🌐 Please use the globe icon unless IT tells you otherwise.
If prompted, allow your browser to open the RemotePC viewer.
Your work computer will open in a new window.

Once your remote session opens, you may see the Windows login screen.
If so:
-
Click inside the remote window
-
Enter your Windows username and password
-
Press Enter
After logging in, your normal work desktop will appear and you can begin working.
Important Privacy Notice – PLEASE READ
When you access your computer remotely, everything you do is visible on the physical computer screen at the office.
This includes:
-
Mouse movements
-
Keyboard input
-
Open applications and files
Anyone physically near the computer can see your activity unless you take action to hide it.

While you are connected, take a moment to locate the controls menu.
Here’s how to find it:
-
Move your mouse to the down arrow at the top of the remote session window
-
Locate your computer name in the blue bar
-
Click the small down arrow next to your computer name
This opens the RemotePC controls menu, where privacy and session options are located.

From the controls menu you just opened:
-
Select Blank Host Screen
The physical monitor at the office will immediately turn black, preventing anyone nearby from seeing what you are doing.
Use this option whenever you are working with sensitive or confidential information.
