Instructions for using RemotePC

Hello and welcome to the tutorial for using RemotePC. First let’s quickly go over what RemotePC does. RemotePC allows you to securely connect to your computer from anywhere and control it remotely.

To get started, you’ll receive an email inviting you to create a RemotePC account.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Open the email titled something like
“[Name] has invited you to create a RemotePC account”

  2. Click Create account now

This will open the RemotePC website in your browser.

You’ll now land on the account creation page.

On this screen:

  1. Enter your First Name and Last Name

  2. Confirm your Email Address
(This will be your RemotePC username)

  3. Create a password

  4. Click Create My Account

Once completed, your account will be created and you’ll move on to security setup.

After creating your account, you’ll see a message explaining that two-factor authentication (2FA) is required.

When prompted to choose a method:

  1. Select Time-based OTP Authentication

  2. Click Confirm

This will guide you through setting it up on your phone.

You’ll now see a QR code on the screen.

Using your phone:

  1. Open an authenticator app
(Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy work well)

  2. Add a new account

  3. Scan the QR code shown on the screen

  4. Click Next

Your authenticator app will begin generating one-time codes.

At this point, a recovery code will appear.

This step is required — you cannot continue until the code is saved.

RemotePC will require you to do one of the following:

  • Click Copy Code

  • Click Download

  • Click Print

Before moving on:

  1. Save the recovery code somewhere secure

  2. Click Continue

If you lose access to your authenticator app and do not have this recovery code, IT will need to manually reset your account.

You’ll now be asked to confirm the setup.

To finish:

  1. Look at your authenticator app

  2. Enter the current 6-digit code

  3. Click Activate

There’s nothing else you need to do right now — you’ll be taken directly to your account.

For future logins:

You will then be taken to your list of computers.
